The Denver Metropolitan Commercial Association of REALTORS® (DMCAR) honored its top commercial real estate producers of 2007 in land, industrial, multi-family, office, investment, retail, and small office broker categories with the association’s annual Heavy Hitters Awards.  DMCAR also recognized John Propp of Propp Property as its REALTOR® of the Year, and Bill Johnson of Roc Properties as its Young Broker of Denver for 2007.
A Denver native, Propp began his real estate career in 1986 with a stint in residential real estate.  With a switch to commercial real estate, coupled with some aggressive national advertising, including the Wall Street Journal, Propp secured his first commercial clients and quickly began selling a diverse portfolio of commercial properties.
Today, his company owns and operates 25 buildings in the Denver Metro area.  Described as fiercely loyal to his friends, family, employees and his profession, Propp has served in numerous leadership roles including terms as president of DMCAR in 2003 and president of the Colorado and Wyoming Certified Investment Members (CCIM) in 2002.
Within DMCAR, his time and leadership investment continues.  He serves on several committees helping to plan and implement events, education and strategic direction for the organization and its members.
Friend and real estate colleague Bill McKinney says of him, “John has given so much to our REALTOR® community.  In his business dealings his word is his bond and he treats everyone – staff, clients, colleagues – with dignity and respect.”

Top Investment Brokers – Mike Winn and Tim Richey, Cushman & Wakefield – the team has weathered numerous market turns over their 18-year partnership but always seem to finish well including 2007 production of $421 million each through 25 completed transactions including the sale of downtown Denver’s Independence Plaza building.

Top Retail Broker – David Fried, Fuller Real Estate – a 25-year industry veteran and regular Top 10 finisher, including a 2004 top honor in the category, Fried completed 61 transactions totaling $20.4 million in production for 2007.

Also recognized for his early success and professional commitment was Bill Johnson of Roc Properties, DMCAR’s 2007 Young Broker of Denver.  Selected from a group of young professionals with less than three years of industry experience, Johnson’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to the profession and the association helped earn him the association honor.  During his first 11 months in the business, Johnson completed five transactions totaling $22 million in production.
“While 2007 was clearly described by most in the industry as ‘an interesting year,’  pre-August and post-August market activity and challenges kept our professional members busy facing new issues, solving problems and getting even the most complex deals completed for their clients,” said 2008 DMCAR President, JR Bitzer of Bitzer Real Estate Partners.
Heavy Hitter Event Chairman, Matt Ritter of Pinnacle Real Estate Advisors added, “While nationally the industry and the economy took tremendous hits, our local economy and market fundamentals remain strong enough to keep our members optimistic about the remainder of 2008.  These awards not only allow us to honor the professionals singled out as the top performers in their area of expertise, we’re also honoring the impact our profession as a whole has on this region.”
